Inside the Heart of Smallverse: A Fanmade Community Center Bringing Players Together

SmallVerse isn’t just a game — it’s a cozy, ever-evolving social world where players build, share, and connect. As a social game, it thrives on collaboration and creativity, and nowhere is that more evident than in the SV Community Center.

The SV Community Center was founded by Bella Rose, a social worker by day, and Smallverse mental health supporter by night. "I’m a social worker, so mental health is something extremely important to me. And I wanted to bring mental health support to the game. But to expand it in a non clinical format we decided to make it a community center with multiple elements" - Rose

I love what Bella is doing for the community, and if you want to see more and help the SV Community Center grow into a bustling space, please come visit! -> SV Community Center is having their opening night tomorrow! Sunday, April 27th at 2pm PST/5pm EST/10pm BST. Also join their discord -> here!

I had the privilege of interviewing Bella for my blog not only to ask questions that someone may have, but also to help promote the center, here is that interview.

What’s the main goal or vision behind creating this in-game community center?

Rose: "The vision behind the SV Community Center is to cultivate an inclusive, supportive, and empowering space where Smallverse players can connect, grow, and thrive. It was created with the intention of having SmallVerse players connect over shared interests — whether that’s through workshops, creative outlets, support groups, games, or simply hanging out and having fun. Whether someone is looking for support, creative expression, or simply a place to belong, the center is designed to meet them where they are and uplift them."

How do you ensure that the community remains a safe and supportive environment for all members?

Rose: "Safety and support are foundational to the center. We have a team of two moderators who are responsible for maintaining a respectful, inclusive atmosphere. Clear community guidelines are enforced by the moderators. Administrative staff, including myself and the Administrative Director are also here to ensure community guidelines are followed. Beyond moderation, we also offer support groups and workshops in-game, that prioritize mental well-being and respectful communication. We have facilitators who are responsible for ensuring participants of events remain respectful."

What types of activities, events, or spaces do you plan to offer to encourage social interaction and connection?

Rose: "The center offers a variety of engaging opportunities for social interaction, including:

  • Workshops on creative and mental health-related topics
  • Support groups for those needing a safe space to talk
  • Community events, including games and themed gatherings
  • A fund dedicated to giving back to players through prizes and rewards
  • A Community Art Gallery, curated by our Event Coordinator, showcasing work from the community
  • Unique hangout spaces like an arcade room, pool, bar, dance floor, and crafting room — all designed for casual fun and connection

Each of these offerings is designed to encourage participation, build relationships, and foster a sense of belonging."

How do you plan on involving the community in shaping the direction or activities of the center?

Rose: "We believe this center should reflect the needs and interests of the community it serves. We plan to involve members through our suggestions forum channel in discord, where members are free to share their ideas.  In addition, my role as the Community Manager is to gather the feedback our coordinators receive after events take place. In collaboration with the Administrative Director, we will work to meet the needs and requests of the community. We want everyone to feel ownership over the space — that this isn’t just our center, it’s theirs too."

What do you hope people take away from spending time in the center — whether it’s a single visit or long-term participation?

Rose: "We hope people leave the center feeling seen, supported, and inspired. We want every visitor to feel the warmth of the community, find a space where they can be themselves, and connect meaningfully with others. If they learn something, make a new friend, or just have fun and unwind — then the center is doing what it was built to do."
